These side reflectors conceal the bolts for the wheels (meaning that they will have to be peeled off and then stuck back on should you ever need to remove a wheel). That's great news for the makers of the Decent One Max electric scooter, which we've been reviewing recently, as it demand for e-scooters is expected to go through the roof. Unlike other scooters, the battery on the One can be removed from the head tube in seconds, with no tools needed. Decent claims that, if run at the recommended pressure, their tyres are "puncture resistant", but is hard to know whether this is true.
That weight is on par with other electric scooters that offer a similar range and performance, but as most of the weight is in the handle, we find it easier to carry. After unfolding and securing the steering stem into its upright position, it’s a simple case of sliding the brake lever on to the left handle stem before tightening with the Allen key provided and then screwing the grips in place. If you want to be out for long periods, it can be difficult having to plan your rides around recharging and constantly worrying whether you will have enough juice to get home.The Decent One pitches itself as a no-nonsense electric scooter and that is pretty much exactly what it is. The One Max has a three-brake system with an electronic brake on the front hub motor, a mechanical disc brake on the rear wheel plus a friction brake on the rear fender for emergencies.
The braking system on the hub motor is also complimented by a mechanical rear disk brake for extra safety. Out of the box not much needs doing to the Decent One Max; it’s simple fixing ring and folding lever makes it a 10-second job to set up and collapse it for storage under a desk or on a train, though you will need a small hex key/Allen wrench to tighten the brake and you'll need to screw on the handlebars. It’s suitable for a wide range of uses, whether you’re commuting to work or enjoying a leisurely ride around the neighbourhood. The Decent One feels much like those first Segway-Ninebot electric scooters (which flooded the streets of Europe in 2019 when rental companies used them) but is perhaps slightly smoother because of the larger (10 inch) tyres. Ensuring the motor is kept in great condition is the best way to prolong the life of your electric scooter.Given its weight, the folding nature is just as likely to come in handy for storing it in the boot of a car. At only Approx 13kgs, the Decent one can easily be carried on public transport or lugged up a flight of stairs. Charged in 5-6 hours, these batteries allow you to have a spare topped up (externally from the scooter) always ready to go. The Decent One is fitted with huge 10-inch diameter pneumatic tyres that soak up bumps and take the fatigue out of longer rides. We are hopeful this will change in the very near future as other EU countries have embraced the e scooter as a daily form of transportation.
The UK government is now conducting trials of these environmentally-friendly icons of modern mobility with the aim of helping to keep people off public transport. The Decent ONE Electric Scooter is an affordable, high quality e-scooter which focuses on core functions to achieve an incredible riding experience!It may be that providing the extra power has had a detrimental effect on the range of the Decent One, for a 12 mile range is slightly below average. The best can give up to 80 miles in one full charge, whereas some can do 10 miles, which can still get you pretty far. Should a puncture occur, the tyres and inner-tubes are readily available and much simpler to fit than those found on competitors scooters.
